R.P.G.

Most people think that “RPG” is a gaming acronym for “Role Playing Game”, meaning a video-game where you play the role of  a character, but there is another way to interpret this acronym. A Christian way that will help your every day walk with Christ.

There are a few verses in 1 Thessalonians that are very powerful.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

“RPG” doesn’t have to mean “Role Playing Game”. It can mean “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in everything.”

Rejoicing always is very important in the life of a believer. When we rejoice always, others look at our joy and feel inspired to gain a similar joy. No one will want to become a Christian if they know that you are one and you sulk around with a sad face. They would not feel like they are missing something in their lives. Be careful not to make the mistake of rejoicing in earthly things. We need to rejoice in Christ alone and make Him our treasure and full joy. What’s so special about rejoicing in earthly things? Nothing is, in fact unbelievers can do that, but joy in God and His son, Jesus Christ is something entirely different. So make sure that you rejoice every day in Christ Jesus and when people ask you, ” Why are you always so joyful?”, introduce them to the only filler of joy, Jesus Christ.

“Pray without ceasing” literally means “Pray without stopping”. Pray the whole day through. Never stop. Always be in communication with God. The devil never stops attacking and tempting us, so why should we ever drop our guard? Prayer is a war walkie-talkie. We are in constant danger of the enemy, so we need to keep our phone on for backup because we will lose the battle on our own.

Here is a helpful short three-minute video on prayer.

Giving thanks in all that we do makes us think more of the unprivileged and the poor. We become more Christ-like because we acknowledge the fact that it is God who gives us everything and He can take it all away whenever He pleases (Job 1:21). If we don’t have a thankful heart, then we take all we have for granted and that does not glorify Christ. Give thanks for waking up in the morning, for the food you eat, for having a job, for transportation, for school, for family and friends, and most importantly, give thanks everyday for Christ who showed enough grace to save you from your wickedness.

So live everyday thinking of these three key elements. Say to yourself every day “RPG, RPG, RPG”. Rejoice, pray and give thanks every moment of your life and Christ will be pleased and glorified in you.

Give thanks to the LORD for every heart beat, every breath and for a mind because everything made was created for Christ, by Christ and in Christ.
